Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California is one of the most famous cemeteries in the United States, probably best known for being the resting place of celebrities like Walt Disney, Michael Jackson, and Elizabeth Taylor. But it’s much more than a “cemetery for famous people.” Forest Lawn founder Hubert Eaton had the idea that a cemetery can also be a place for the living; a place that could inspire and uplift the community with sweeping vistas. Recently, chairman of the board at Forest Lawn, John F. Llewellyn, took us on a tour of the park, and talked us through its rich history.

I wonder if running a cemetery for famous people makes necrophilia a more attractive option. Famous people get laid a lot. That’s just a fact.

Cemeteries by nature ARE completely for the living…( obvious statement) Actually the tour you were given should’ve been a treat. There is an industry of ‘Necrotourists’ ( NTs) , that have the past time and pursuit of famous graves/ monuments. They have several groups, to include rehab skills, photography pursuits, genelogists, historians and a good percentage would’ve killed for the tour you took. While many cemeteries are encouraging NTs to ‘come on in , and used the grounds while being respectful. Many do not want pictures taken and make access hard for many ( Catholic cems are infamous for this) And while your articles title was complete click bait for me, ( just the intro paragraph was not worth a moment of my time. And there was truly no point or conclusion drawn from that encounter..you didn’t even answer your own question. Great ,you got a one on one tour conducted with someone who probably had interesting storiesSO…where is that information??

a group of people i know decided, on a lunch break, to go wander this cemetery for fun. i get that it may have been fascinating to look at the names of dead folks and marvel at the ones they recognized, but people buried their loved ones there. i buried my father at this cemetery, and it hurt me to hear that it was visited so lightheartedly and without reverence.  i appreciate how beautiful the grounds are, but it’s not a park.
