Zac Efron may be going Straight To Hell

Aux Features Film

Zac Efron is in talks to produce and possibly star in Straight To Hell, a darkly comic look at the scandalous world of investment banking, according to Empire Magazine. Feeding into the narrative that Americans love movies about the financial institutions they hate, the film is based on former investment banker John LeFevre’s memoir, Straight To Hell: True Tales Of Deviance, Debauchery, And Billion-Dollar Deals. It will tell a similar tale to Wall Street, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and The Wolf Of Wall Street, in that the people who work so closely to pure, unfettered, liquid wealth are invariably sucked into becoming rich douchebags. And like these other fiduciary fables, presumably the highs involve coke-fueled yacht bacchanals, and the lows will descend into bankruptcy, minimum-security prisons upstate, or multimillion-dollar retirement packages awarded by the board of directors.

Straight To Hell is still in the early stages of development by Paramount, but John M. Phillips (who directed Efron in the hellish Dirty Grandpa) is attached to adapt LeFevre’s book.
