Hungry turtle ASMR is ASMR we can get behind

Hungry turtle ASMR is ASMR we can get behind

ASMR, otherwise known as autonomous sensory meridian response, has long been dominated by the kinds of hushed whispers that make some of us mortals feel like a knife will meet our throat any second. Bless these hungry turtles, then, who calm not with words of love or violence, but rather soft, urgent, deliciously soothing chomps.

The Fish Whisperer, a must-subscribe YouTube channel, posted the below video earlier this week. In it, some grimy, rotund turtles scuttle forth from a pond to scoop up hunks of watermelon, apple, and cricket. The nearby mic not only captures the satisfying snap of their curt chomps, but also the swish of their hurried waddles back into the water.

There’s no agenda here. No motivation. No instructions. No hidden messages. Just sounds. Good, relaxing, adorable sounds.

Around 1:22 it just looks like a single file of endless zombie turtles coming out of the water, and the amplified “CHOMPS” make it no less creepy.

Funny, you saw creepy zombie turtles, I saw very polite turtles queuing up.I’m sure there’s no deeper meaning.

Asmr, is it a millennial thing? Or is it genetic, like people who can or can’t eat cilantro? I just don’t get it, makes me want to skip that turtle across the pond

Is what genetic? Ears? Because yes, they are.

It’s a new thing and tons of people across generations like it. I’m more into educational or entertaining asmr now, rather than the silly mouth sounds or ear cleaning stuff. Check out the Crafsman on YouTube. Super soothing toy, sculpting and mould DIY

It’s not a new thing. I had positive physical reactions to eating sounds 30 years ago.It just has a name and a community now, because thanks to the internet we found out that it’s not weird and we’re not the only ones.

Yeah this. Admittedly I’d be skeptical if it didn’t happen to me but I can remember feeling it as a kid way way way before anyone had put a name to it.The videos are completely bonkers and I realise most people assume it’s just some sort of fetish but at the same time I get pretty great pleasurable sensations just from hearing noises and it also really helps when I’m spiraling in anxiety. I often listen in work and it both helps de stress and I feel great. So yeah, everyone can think what they wanna think and mock what they wanna mock – it works for me and that’s fine.

It’s not a millennial thing, but some people do and some people don’t. I have positive physical reactions to eating sounds since I was a kid, before millennials existed and of course before ASMR had a name.As there’s literately no scientific research about it yet, nobody knows why it works only for some

      It’s this generation’s “gluten allergy”.

      “is it a millennial thing?”
In other words “I’m ignorant, please help”

This is weird. I’ve never thought of turtles as creepy, but this endless brigade of monsters has changed my mind. Fuck turtles.

Ha, I never expected to see this guy’s content here, nice pull. I’m sure there’s something distasteful somewhere but mostly his feed seems harmless and fun. The videos where he successfully net casts for shad are the standouts to me.

  • froot-loop-av says:

I love that turtle that goes for the extra bite of apple. I hear you brother, who knows when this guy will be back with more apples!

  • smudgedblurs-av says:

I still don’t get ASMR, but I like turtles.

  • freehotrats-av says:

FINALLY an answer to the question, “Who will feed the wee turtles?”

  • kinosthesis-av says:

    This one’s better:
