Here’s something fun: Go to Netflix right now and type “Excelsior” into the search engine. What you’ll get is every movie, TV show, or animated series that late Marvel mastermind Stan Lee had a hand in creating. It’s a small gesture, but it’s one that simply and elegantly demonstrates the breadth of his influence. Though results will differ based on location, our search gave way to 18 different properties on Netflix alone, from Black Panther and Jessica Jones to Marvel Super Hero Adventures: Frost Fight!.
“Excelsior,” if you’re unaware, was Lee’s preferred parting phrase, be it on Twitter, in interviews, or as a cap to his bygone columns. It translates in Latin as “ever upward.”
Completists: Now’s the time to stuff your maw with all the Lee content you never knew existed. And, speaking of things you may not know existed, Lee has a cameo in the new Ralph Breaks The Internet, which marks the first of what’s set to be several posthumous onscreen appearances.

Dude I quoted is baldly trolling. Squamate seems to be legit fucking dumb.
The breadth of Stan Lee’s influence is indeed about as far across as an Easter egg
Good job taking down that dead guy on behalf of another dead guy.

Seriously, there’s blatant trolling and then there’s a post so stupid that it makes me wonder whether the poster routinely shits themselves by choice.
Am I the only one who saw that header photo and thought they had retroactively added him to the Truman Show?
Excelsior! From now on that’s what I’m yelling when I finish.
In Latin excelsior simply means “higher” or “towering above”. It was Longfellow whose poem of the same name in 1841 used it as an adverb with the implication of “ever upward”. When challenged on the error in grammar Longfellow suggested it should be regarded as representing the motto Scopus meus excelsior est, Englished to “my goal is higher”.Stan Lee presumably took the motto from the State of New York, I understand he was born in Manhattan. I always think Lee is referring to cushion stuffing or packing material, as that was my first exposure to the word.
If Netflix is being really clever, the search ought to turn up all of this stuff and then also Star Treks III and VI.
And what is the first title to appear?
Uhhh. . . not when I type it in; I think that might be based on their profile of you, buddy ;P
