FX On Hulu has shared the trailer for season two of Reservation Dogs, Taika Waititi and Sterlin Harjo’s acclaimed comedy about four Native American teenagers grieving the death of their mutual friend. (Yes, despite that description, it is still very funny.)

Reservation Dogs | Season 2 Official Trailer | FX

After the first season ended with Elora (Devery Jacobs) leaving her friends and the reservation to drive to California with one-time rival Jackie (Elva Guerra), things are very much still in flux back in Oklahoma. Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis) is trying to break a “white wizard curse,” Bear (D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai) has a new job as a construction worker, and along with Cheese (Lane Factor), everyone’s fighting off uncomfortable questions about their love lives. Of course, hilarity ensues.

While many other shows would keep the road trip offscreen and pick up with the band getting back together, it looks like Reservation Dogs will be spending a good amount of time with Elora and Jackie’s journey. Going to California certainly isn’t the dream they expected it to be, as the girls find themselves stuck with car troubles and being chased down the road at gunpoint. (Don’t worry, the trailer still promises an emotional reunion when Elora returns to her friends.)

Returning secondary characters include Dallas Goldtooth’s fan-favorite warrior spirit, Jana Schmieding as an Indian Health Service administrator, Bobby Lee as a reservation doctor, Wes Studi’s Bucky, and Lil Mike and Funny Bone as Mose and Mekko. Those Flaming Flamers chips from the first season are also still hanging around, adding to the specificity of Reservation Dogs’ world. As confirmed by Deadline, newcomers to the show include Megan Mullally and Marc Maron.

Season two of Reservation Dogs premieres on Hulu on August 3. The first season is streaming now.

What are the odds that there would be not one, but two great shows set on Indian reservations, starring Zahn Mclarnon?

    • eam1-av says:

Apparently great odds, love both of his shows.  Cannot wait for Reservation Dogs to return.

      And he’s Echo’s dad! What a world! 🙂

Longmire was only partially set on a reservation, but McClarnon really stood out.

I only watched a few eps of that show, I’ll have to go back and watch it all.

I should finish it. I watched Longmire when it was on television via Hulu and the little progress bar says that I watched the first season it was a Netflix production, but I am yet to get back to watch the rest.I remember really enjoying the TV version (as a Western) and McClarnon really stood out as the tribal cop. I can’t say it was the role because it was standard MO. The actor himself is what made the impression.I also remember getting kind of frustrated at some of the Hollywood crap. For example, the show took place mostly in Wyoming, but was filmed entirely in New Mexico. That’s fine, but to create tension in a storyline or something, they had Longmire and Starbuck drive down to check something out in Arizona and was surprised they had to stay the night.Cheyenne to Flagstaff is a twelve hour drive. Only an uninformed person could think that they could drive to Arizona, look at some records in the clerk’s office and talk to someone, then get back Wyoming before the end of the work day.I’ll someday finish it — peak TV and all — and if you find seasons five and six exceptional, please let me know and I’ll move it up my schedule — maybe binge it on a weekend — but McClarnon made a very good impression playing a role very similar to his on Reservations Dogs. So much so, you might be able to think of it as an extension of the same role. The dude has gravitas.

Just confirming that HBO Max is not on the prime channel deals list, but there are other channels (acorn, amc+,showtime, starz, paramount plus) that may be of interest …

Westworld is sort of a futuristic robot reservation, and his solo episode was the best of Season 2.

        • sonicoooahh-av says:

I had planned to get HBOmax for the summer, but waited to see if unlike last year, it would be one of the Prime Day deals. It’s not and I haven’t decided whether I was going to get two or three this year. Once that’s settled, we might tack-on HBOmax or I might wait until I’ve seen everything on my Prime Day subscriptions.Someday I’ll do the HBOmax again, but if I have to pay full price, instead of doing it during the summer, I may wait until the days are shorter.Westworld is definitely on my to-watch list.

Season 1 and 2 are a lot of fun and play with/subvert tropes in a really satisfying way. I stand with the majority who feels that Season 3 was messy, disappointing, and somehow managed to be both too confusing and too obvious.

He really did. I only saw a few episodes, but he left an impression. Very charismatic, so nice to him getting more and more work.

      • nurser-av says:

Always interesting over the years, but in that season of Fargo? He’ll forever be cemented in my mind as one of the best out there: character or lead. He can go from hero to villain and back again with barely a change in his glance.

    • rigbyriordan-av says:

      Literally 100%

    • dragonfly452-av says:

Well like the BBC actors, there aren’t many indigenous actors, so a lot of them appear across several shows.

  • sonicoooahh-av says:

Can’t wait until Season 2! If you missed the first, binge that shit!

  • noreallybutwait-av says:

I hope there are more Willow references.

  • briliantmisstake-av says:

This show was so good. At first it seemed like it was going to be just a laid-back hang-out show and I was on board for it, but it deepened into a lot more.
